French Toast by Roostam Irani

Take a loaf of bread, preferably a 2-day-old bread. Cut vertical slices about 2 inches thick and keep aside.

For the batter:
1. Take 2 whole eggs and break into a bowl.
2. Add in 200 ml of milk.
3. Add in a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon powder
4. Add few drops of vanilla essence.
5. Also add about 150 gms grain sugar.
6. Add a pinch of salt.
7. Mix with a whisk till the sugar is dissolved.

-Take a flat-bottomed pan with a large surface area.
-Put the flame on medium heat and place 2 knobs of butter in the pan.
-Take each slice of bread individually and dip in the batter submerging the bread slice completely for 3-4 seconds.
-Drip off excess batter and place directly on the hot pan.
-Fry it on both sides for 4 minutes till golden brown.
-Remove and serve hot. Had best with maple syrup or honey and melted butter.
-If you are lacto intolerant, you can substitute milk with soy milk and use sunflower oil instead of butter.
